We are currently hiring for two Community Development Worker positions - please see the postings below and follow the instructions to apply. Cover letters and resumes will be accepted until Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 at 5pm.

Niagara Nutrition Partners is a region-wide initiative that offers support and coordination to 200 Student Nutrition Programs (breakfast, snack and lunch) at both elementary and secondary schools throughout the Niagara region.

NNP is a division of Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.

Community Development Worker for Student Nutrition Programs in Welland, Pelham and Wainfleet

15 hours per week - $18/hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Development Worker will support a caseload of approximately 30 schools with student nutrition programs in Welland, Pelham and Wainfleet.  Support to these programs will include: 

  • Assistance with the continued development of existing Student Nutrition Programs (SNP)
  • Fielding all new program inquiries
  • Provide support to programs with budgeting, access to funding, resources, best practices, reporting, food delivery and safe food handling
  • Assist programs with menu development and ensure adherence to Ministry of Child and Youth Services (MCYS) Nutrition Guidelines
  • Work directly with site based volunteers for the delivery of programs, volunteer recruitment, reporting and budgeting
  • Facilitate program based fundraising
  • Participate in community engagement activities and grant writing opportunities
  • Plan and assist with NNP fundraisers and special events
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the Program Manager

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
  • Excellent networking and collaboration skills to be able to foster additional partnership stakeholders
  • Knowledge of child nutrition and the impact of nutrition programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meeting regular monthly reporting timelines
  • Excellence in working with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse communities and sectors
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance (regular travel in local area required)
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent
  • French is considered an asset

Job Type: 10 month contract.  NNP follows the school year, including school breaks.

35 hours per week - $18/hour
