EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 Niagara Nutrition Partners is a region-wide initiative that offers support and coordination to over 180 Student Nutrition Programs (breakfast, snack and lunch) at both elementary and secondary schools throughout the Niagara region.

NNP is a division of Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold.

Community Development Worker for Student Nutrition Programs in Welland, Pelham and Wainfleet

15 hours per week - $20/hour

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Development Worker will support a caseload of approximately 32 schools with student nutrition programs in Welland, Pelham and Wainfleet. Support for these programs will include:

  • Assist with the continued development of existing Student Nutrition Programs (SNP)
  • Field all new programinquiries
  • Provide support to programs with budgeting, access to funding, resources, best practices, reporting, fooddelivery and safe foodhandling
  • Assist programs with menu development and ensure adherence to Ministry of Children Community andSocial Services (MCCSS) NutritionGuidelines
  • Work directly with site based volunteers for the delivery of programs, volunteer recruitment, reporting and budgeting
  • Facilitate program basedfundraising
  • Participate in community engagementactivities
  • Plan and assist with NNP fundraisers and specialevents
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the ProgramManager

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and presentationskills
  • Excellent networking and collaboration skills to be able to foster additional partnershipstakeholders
  • Knowledge of child nutrition and the impact of nutritionprograms
  • Strong organizationalskills
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, meeting regular monthly reportingtimelines
  • Excellence in working with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularlyExcel
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse communities andsectors
  • Access to a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance (regular travel in local arearequired)
  • Post-secondary education orequivalent
  • French is considered anasset

Job Type: 10 month contract. NNP follows the school year, including school breaks. Anticipated Start Date: Monday, September 9, 2019
